The metric is broader than labor reduction
Value per employee can include revenue, margin, customers served, operations completed, quality or public outcomes. A narrow focus on cutting staff often destroys the knowledge required to make AI systems useful.
Operational leverage requires process redesign
Automating one task may save minutes while leaving delays, approvals and rework untouched. Real leverage appears when the complete cycle is redesigned and the system can coordinate the next action.
Measure a baseline and a system outcome
Track cycle time, cost per operation, error rate, throughput and recovered capacity before and after deployment. Claims without a baseline are marketing, not evidence.
